Podcast #60 Planning a Trip

Published in the category General Practice, Travel

Planning a trip used to be fairly simple. First you would decide where you wanted to visit. Then you would go to a travel agency. The travel agent would suggest hotels. He would also look into airline routes and schedules. You could even book an all-inclusive tour. This would include transportation, hotels and sightseeing. Most meals would also be included.

You can still use a travel agent or book a tour. But these days people use the Internet to plan trips. You can access different airlines to find flights. Sometimes airline fares change daily. This certainly complicates matters. You can also research destinations from your computer. It is worthwhile to visit travel forums. This is where people talk about their own experiences.

All of this research takes a lot of time. But you can pick up some good ideas. And you may be able to save quite a bit of money. Planning a vacation is not for everyone. You have to have time and be organized. I, myself, like to plan trips using the web. I have usually been pretty successful. A few times I was unhappy with my choices. But that’s life. Nothing is perfect at home or on a trip.
